Policy on Corrigenda
Volume one of the ADB was published in 1966 and subsequent volumes, through to volume 17, have since appeared at regular intervals. Since publication new information or revised interpretations may have emerged in relation to particular articles. The ADB hopes to attract resources in the future to revise the ADB systematically. In particular we hope to develop the ADB Online delivery and, in the process, to rewrite existing work and to commission articles on new subjects, for example collective biographies and thematic essays.
Our policy, then, is that for the time being published articles stand as they first appeared, artefacts or products of the historiographical context at the date of publication. Currently our resources are devoted to completing volume 18 and producing volumes 19 and 20 (people who died 1991-2000). We welcome suggestions for corrigenda which will be kept on-file in anticipation of a revised edition of the ADB sometime in the future. In the meantime we will update factual errors that are drawn to our attention, only if they are fully documented.
If you believe that a factual statement in a biography is incorrect, please contact ADB staff at adb@anu.edu.au. Copies of the primary source documents which support your claims must be attached to the email. ADB staff will then review the entry and publish any necessary corrections.
